Item Details
This is a superb example of mid 18th Century Scottish silver. This fabulous quality silver sugar caster was assayed at the Edinburgh office in 1754. The body of this rare and desirable example is baluster shape, with decorative bands of floral decoration, along with garlands and tied bows. The caster stands on a raised pedestal base and the pull-off lid is beautifully pierced, with engraved detail and finished with a steeple finial. To the underside of the base is where the full set of clear hallmarks can be found. The gauge of silver is excellent and the caster would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
