A superb 18th Century silver mustard pot of drum form. The pierced body is engraved with swags and bright cut detail, in the Adams style. The hinged lid has similar engraving and a beautiful pierced shell thumb grip. There is a fitted blue glass liner inside and an associated silver mustard spoon is included. This superior early example is a handsome collector's piece, both practical and decorative. Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Date :- London 1784. Maker :- William Plummer. Excellent, with no dents or splits to the silver and no chips or cracks to the liner. There is evidence of an old strengthening repair to the inside of the lid, commensurate with age and use.
