Item Details
A delightful Georgian silver nutmeg grater from 1791. This rare piece is in wonderful condition. With few surviving in good condition, it is a lovely find. The cylindrical body is beautifully understated, with two matching bands of reeded decoration and is free from initials or any other engraving. The pull off domed lid opens to reveal the internal reservoir for the nutmeg. To the base is a pull of cover for the original steel grater. With this removed the grater can be accessed and a full and clear set of hallmarks can be found on the inside base cover. A wonderful, rare and collectable piece.
