Lovely William IV Rosewood & Mother of Pearl Inlaid Box

This is a lovely 19th Century William IV antique rosewood box of sarcophagus form. This gorgeous example is of beautiful rosewood, with a deep and attractive grain. The lid is inset with mother-of pearl discs, pewter stringing and quadrant beading. There is a shaped mother-of-pearl vacant cartouche and matching rectangular lock escutcheon to the front. The interior is delightful, with the original pastel pink paint present and finished with decorative foil borders and central pen and ink stately home scenes. The box stands on four pewter ball feet and there is the original base material to the underside. A very versatile example, with a number of uses, making this wonderful piece both decorative and practical. Origin:- English Date:- c1830
