Item Details
Superb and unusual late 19th Century Victorian antique silver vesta. This fabulous example has an engraved silver body, featuring a horseshoe set with attractive granite stones. The body is extensively engraved with geometric patterns and foliar details. There is a central vacant cartouche and the striker is found to the base. Unusually, the hinge opens on the right, suggesting use by a left handed person. Once open it reveals a richly gilded interior. An interesting and desirable example and a good collector's piece.
Hallmarks:- Unmarked but tests as silver. (Inside the lid the word 'silver' appears to have been scratched).
