Excellent Scottish Silver Gin Label

Rare silver wine label, dating from C1790. This lovely example is in shaped crescent form with 'Gin' engraved to the centre and supported on a belcher chain. The maker Robert Gray was based in Glasgow and entered marks for there and Edinburgh. The thistle, maker's mark and duty mark confirm the Glasgow origin, making this a interesting and collectable piece. Hallmarks:- Clear and readable. Often small items were only part marked and this piece has the Maker's mark, Duty Mark and Thistle. Maker:- Robert Gray Date:- Glasgow c.1790
