Attractive Mid Victorian Mahogany Box

Attractive solid mahogany box, dating from the mid Victorian period. This unusual slender example is of a lovely rich colour. The lid is hinged and inlaid with pewter stringing, mother-of-pearl disks and there is a rectangular vacant cartouche to the centre. The mother-of-pearl is continued on the front with a charming diamond shaped lock escutcheon and the box has the original lock and key. The interior is finished in a complimentary colour and retains the original lining to the base and padded silk to the inside of the lid. A lovely ready to go, useable piece.
