Item Details
A rather unusual and interesting piece of desk silverware. This is a silver inkwell, with a single candle holder mounted on a swivel lid dating from 1922. The inkwell is of plain capstan form with weighted base and glass inkwell liner. The domed lid is mounted with the candle holder which has a flared rim. The lid swivels on shaped brackets, with central mounting point, facilitating access to the ink held inside the well.
Perhaps used for writing ones correspondence, with the candle melting the sealing wax to seal the envelope, or used for lighting the desk when writing letters in the evening, it still makes a wonderful, unusual addition and accessory to any desk.
