These superb silver menu holders date to the reign of King George V. Each holder stands on a round flat base, with a wirework support frame to the back. The fronts are also rounded and rather unusually feature a 'window' aperture. The frame of the aperture can be removed to allow photographs, initials of the user, small personal items or anything that the user should wish to place into the inside of the menu holder, creating a very personalised feel. The holders are presented here with a blue fabric inside, which is easily removed if desired. These interesting examples are of good gauge silver, rare and make for a collectable and usable dining table item. Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Date :- Birmingham 1926. Maker :- William Base & Sons.
