An Attractive Victorian Silver Mounted Scent Bottle

A lovely cranberry cut through glass and silver mounted scent bottle, dating from the late Victorian period. This pretty example has a cylindrical body with cranberry flashing, cut through with hobnail cutting to create this attractive effect. The silver lid is decorated with panels of acanthus leaves and has a vacant cartouche to the top. A cork seal is found to the inside of the lid and the lid screws down on a silver thread. A usable, collectable and decorative piece. Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Date :- Birmingham 1892. Maker :- Charles May - Cc May & Sons.

Excellent, with no splits or dents to the silver and no cracks to the glass. There are a couple of very small flea bites to the glass cutting, commensurate with age and use.
