Item Details
A rare and collectable novelty Edwardian silver Vesta case. This superb example is in the most unusual form of a mussel shell. The body is extensively engraved with delightful scrolling acanthus leaves and to the front is a shaped vacant cartouche. The striker is found to the side and there is an attaching ring for a fob chain or chatelaine. With the lid open the gilded interior is revealed and the vesta retains a strong hinge and pleasing 'snap' when closing. A fantastic example of a very collectable piece.
