A gorgeous pair of silver butter dishes from the end of the Victorian era. These attractive examples were assayed at the Sheffield Office and are of good weight. The repoussé fluted body is of shell form, with three seashell feet. There is extensive floral and foliar decoration to alternate panels and each handle has a vacant cartouche. Butter shells are lovely items, with alternate uses for condiments, bonbons and trinkets. A versatile and attractive pair of dishes.
