A charming example of Victorian sewing ware. This delightful thimble holder is rectangular in shape with a domed lid. The lid is hinged and is opened with a push button release. The original plush lined interior is in an attractive navy blue and the body is decorated with beautiful panels of mother-of-pearl and abalone shell. The box is supplied with a Chester assayed Victorian silver thimble, by the collectable Charles Horner and a charming period example of a paper needle case with advertising print to the front. A lovely and unusual collector's piece, still usable today.
